Vice President JD Vance will deliver a pro-Bitcoin keynote at Bitcoin 2025, marking the first time a sitting US VP publicly backs the cryptocurrency.

US Vice President JD Vance is set to make history later this month as the first sitting vice president to publicly endorse Bitcoin in a high-profile keynote at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas.

The announcement, made by event organizer BTC Inc., positions Vance as a rare political heavyweight willing to stake his reputation on the controversial cryptocurrency. His speech, slated for May 28 at The Venetian, will be streamed globally amplifying what supporters call a watershed moment for Bitcoin’s legitimacy.

Vance’s appearance follows a year after then-candidate Donald Trump rallied the Bitcoin faithful in Nashville, signaling a seismic shift in the GOP’s stance on crypto. But unlike Trump, whose embrace of digital assets was seen as opportunistic, Vance brings a track record: financial disclosures reveal he holds between $250,000 and $500,000 in Bitcoin, and as a senator, he clashed with regulators over what he called “overreach” in crypto policy.

“This is more than a headline it’s a signal,” said David Bailey, CEO of BTC Inc., framing Vance’s speech as a tipping point for Bitcoin’s role in national policy.

Yet skepticism lingers. Critics question whether Vance’s pro-Bitcoin rhetoric will translate into tangible policy shifts, especially as the SEC tightens its grip on the industry. At the same time, Ethereum and Solana are leaving bitcoin in the dust when it comes to developer activity, casting doubt over its future dominance.

For now, the Vegas stage offers Vance a chance to redefine his political brand as much as Bitcoin’s. “He’s the voice of a generation that sees freedom in code,” said conference co-organizer Brandon Green. But in a volatile crypto market, even true believers know: applause in Vegas doesn’t always echo in Washington.
